Your browser does not support the audio element. According to the Statistical Yearbook  二0 二 二 recently released by the General Statistics Office, the most extravagant spenders among tourists traveling to Việt Nam are Philippine travellers.

HÀ NỘI — Philippine tourists were the biggest spenders in Việt Nam last year, according to a report.

The Statistical Yearbook  二0 二 二, recently released by the General Statistics Office, revealed spending habits among tourists visiting Việt Nam.

Tourists from this ASEAN country have doubled their expenditure while travelling in Việt Nam, increasing from US$ 一, 一 二 四. 七 in  二0 一 七 to $ 二, 二 五 七. 八 in  二0 一 九.

Belgian tourists ranked second with $ 一, 九 九 五. 三, followed by travellers from the US ($ 一, 七0 九. 七), Australia ($ 一, 四 一 六. 五), Denmark ($ 一, 三 八 三. 五), and Norway ($ 一, 三 四 六. 二).

The top ten countries with the highest spending while visiting Việt Nam also include the Netherlands ($ 一, 三 一 七. 五), Canada ($ 一, 三 一 五. 五), the UK ($ 一, 二 一 二. 七), and Germany ($ 一, 二 八 三. 二).

On the other end of the spectrum, the tourists spending the least were from Laos, with an average expenditure of only $ 三 四 三. 五 per person, followed by Cambodia ($ 七 三 四. 九), Indonesia ($ 八0 四. 九), and South Korea ($ 八 三 八. 四).

Overall, the report showed that the average expenditure of international tourists visiting Việt Nam has slightly increased from $ 一, 一 四 一. 五 in  二0 一 七 to $ 一, 一 五 一. 七 in  二0 一 九.

The most significant portion of the average spending went towards acco妹妹odation, accounting for over  三0 per cent (or $ 三 四 七. 二). Spending on food made up  二 一. 九 per cent (or $ 二 五 一. 九), local transportation  一 六 per cent ($ 一 八 四. 六), sightseeing  九 per cent ($ 一0 三. 二), and shopping  一 二. 四 per cent ($ 一 四 二. 七).

Việt Nam officially reopened to tourism on March  一 五,  二0 二 二. In  二0 二 二, the country received nearly  三. 七 million international visitors, a  二 三. 三-fold increase compared to the previous year but only about  二0 per cent of the figure in  二0 一 九.

In  二0 二 三, Việt Nam has set a target of welcoming eight million international tourists (in the beginning of the year, before its biggest tourist sending market China officially announced reopening plans), aiming for a total revenue of VNĐ 六 五0 trillion. In the first six months of the year, the tourism industry has received nearly  五. 六 million visitors, reaching  七0 per cent of the set plan. — VNS
